Preview: Bothell Cougars vs. Arlington Eagles
The Bothell Cougars will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Arlington Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Bothell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Arlington is ranked 46th).
Bothell can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 74-47 win over Marysville-Pilchuck. That 74-47 margin sets a new team best for Bothell this season.
Bothell relied on the efforts of Jarell Fermon, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds, and Jaylen Mclaughlin, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Bell, who scored four points along with 17 rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Arlington pushed their score all the way to 66 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Mount Vernon on the road by a decisive 84-66 margin.
Bothell's win bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Arlington, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Bothell might still be hurting after the 70-50 loss they got from Arlington when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Bothell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
