Softball Recap: Rutherford Sets Scoring Season-High Against Poplar Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rutherford). They blew past the Poplar Springs Atomics 20-6 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Rutherford and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Poplar Springs, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Rutherford will take on Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Poplar Springs, they will challenge Geneva County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Atomics' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
