Soccer Game Preview: Sheffield vs. Southwind

Sheffield hasn't had much luck against Southwind recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mighty Knights will face off against the Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. Sheffield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.3 goals per game this season.

Sheffield took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against The Collegiate School of Memphis, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mighty Knights beat the Cougars by a goal, winning 3-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Sheffield were the better team in the second half.

Hector Garcia and Victor Ramos Funez scored all three of Sheffield's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 25 goals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Southwind took on Whitehaven on Monday. The Jaguars put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 5-2 win. Considering Southwind have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sheffield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those nine matches. As for Southwind, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-3-1.
