Baseball Recap: Marshall Finds Playoff Glory Versus Santa Rosa Academy

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Marshall had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Santa Rosa Academy Rangers.

David Ouch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Marshall: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-14 otherwise.

Ouch wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Mullins, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Santa Rosa Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5.

Coming up, Marshall will take on Chadwick at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Rosa Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
