Baseball Game Preview: St. John's Prep Red Storm vs. St. Edmund Prep Eagles

The St. John's Prep Red Storm will square off against the St. Edmund Prep Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

St. John's Prep is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Archbishop Molloy, who was ranked ninth at the time (St. John's Prep was ranked tenth). The Red Storm took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stanners on Wednesday. That makes it the first time this season the Red Storm have let down their home crowd.

Meanwhile, St. Edmund Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 5-2 to Holy Cross.

This is the second loss in a row for St. John's Prep and nudges their season record down to 6-2. As for St. Edmund Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1.

St. John's Prep took their win against St. Edmund Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Red Storm repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
