Volleyball Game Preview: High Tech SD Storm vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

High Tech SD is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Mission Bay is on a three-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. High Tech SD will welcome Mission Bay at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

High Tech SD lost 3-0 to University City on Tuesday.

High Tech SD was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Mission Bay was able to grind out a solid win over Canyon Hills on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-20, 20-25, 25-12, 25-14.

High Tech SD better focus on containing Zeth Abelman and Henry Gildehaus as the pair were huge in Mission Bay's win. Abelman had 21 digs and six assists, while Gildehaus had six digs and four aces. Those six assists gave Abelman a new career-high. Gavin Ragusa also deserves some recognition as he served his first ace of the season.

High Tech SD's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Mission Bay, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

High Tech SD beat Mission Bay 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Does High Tech SD have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mission Bay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
