Football Game Preview: Cardinal Spellman Pilots vs. Kennedy Catholic Gaels

Cardinal Spellman hasn't had much luck against Kennedy Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Pilots are taking a road trip to face off against the Gaels at 1:00 p.m. Cardinal Spellman has given up an average of 34.1 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cardinal Spellman is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against St. Francis Prep on Sunday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Pilots were dealt a 38-0 loss at the hands of the Terriers. Considering the last time the Pilots couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Kennedy Catholic's offense. The contest between the Gaels and Xaverian didn't end well, with the Gaels falling 14-0. While losing is never fun, the Gaels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Clippers are ranked 188th).

Kennedy Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Cardinal Spellman, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Cardinal Spellman came up short against Kennedy Catholic when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 14-8. Can the Pilots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
