Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Carter Parsons and Cameron Pente Lead Betsy Layne to Victory

Betsy Layne entered their tilt with Prestonsburg on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Prestonsburg Blackcats as they made off with a 92-71 victory. The Bobcats pushed the score to 66-44 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blackcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Betsy Layne to victory were Cameron Pente and Carter Parsons. Pente dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds, while Parsons went 9-for-14 en route to 27 points and seven boards. The dominant performance also gave Parsons a new career-high in field goal percentage (64%). Brayden Hall was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Betsy Layne pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.6 points over those games. As for Prestonsburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
