Basketball Recap: Comp Sci Takes a Loss

Comp Sci made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Parish Hill, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 42-39 on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Comp Sci lost, don't look at DeMya Barrett. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. That was a full 59% of the Eagles' points, marking the fourth time in a row Barrett has put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina Chapman, who scored eight points and three steals.

Parish Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julie Millerd led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Millerd is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Gracie Pearl was another key player, putting up 13 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Comp Sci's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Parish Hill, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Comp Sci has already played their next game, a 47-14 victory against Classical Magnet on the 20th. Parish Hill has also already played their next contest (against Capital Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
