Joshua won the last time they faced Cleburne and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Owls put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 9-1 victory. Considering the Owls have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabella Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Kinlee Alexander was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leilanie Sam, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Joshua is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Cleburne, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-14-2.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Joshua will square off against rival Mansfield Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Cleburne is set to take on their familiar foe Burleson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
