Laney  took care of business in their home opener  (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Purnell Swett Rams 14-3. For the Buccaneers, this counts as revenge for the   11-6 win the Rams walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in February of 2024.
 Jason Sproull looked comfortable as he  pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run but no hits. That's the fewest  earned runs  he has allowed since back in March of 2024.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Jack Holliman, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  JB Brooks, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Laney  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Purnell Swett only posted  an  OBP of  .385.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laney will square off against Swansboro at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Purnell Swett, they will venture away from home to  square off against Scotland  at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
