Football Recap: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. North Surry Greyhounds

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matches, Surry Central finally came back down to earth on Friday. They had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the North Surry Greyhounds. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Greyhounds recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Mason Jewell threw for 88 yards and a touchdown. Travon Sawyers was his top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a touchdown.

A big part of North Surry's victory came down to the chemistry between Kam McKnight and his top target Fisher Leftwich. McKnight threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes while Leftwich gained 143 total yards and four touchdowns. McKnight is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Zamarri Sweatman helped McKnight out on the ground, rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown.

Surry Central moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for North Surry, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Surry Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-17 victory against Forbush on the 18th. North Surry has also already played their next contest, a 34-28 win against West Wilkes on the 18th.
