Baseball Game Preview: De La Salle Spartans vs. Archbishop Murphy Wildcats

The De La Salle Spartans will square off against the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Thursday, De La Salle came up short against Granada and fell 6-2. The Spartans have struggled against the Matadors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Tyler Spangler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Archbishop Murphy). Everything went their way against Mariner on Wednesday as Archbishop Murphy made off with a 15-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Wildcats with their most commanding win of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Archbishop Murphy and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for De La Salle, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
