Basketball Game Preview: Savannah Christian Raiders vs. Groves Rebels

The Savannah Christian Raiders will take on the Groves Rebels in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Savannah Christian's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Groves has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Savannah Christian will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Vidalia, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Raiders walked away with a 51-43 win over the Indians on Tuesday. The 51-point effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Groves ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 54-49 victory over Islands.

Groves' win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for Savannah Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Savannah Christian couldn't quite get it done against Groves when the teams last played back in February of 2024 as they fell 51-39. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
