Football Game Preview: Andrews Mustangs vs. Pecos Eagles

The Andrews Mustangs will square off against the Pecos Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Andrews will be strutting in after a win while Pecos will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Andrews earned a 28-20 victory over Big Spring. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Steers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

It was another big night for JaeSean DeBouse, who rushed for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103 rushing yards per game.

Meanwhile, Pecos played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Lake View and fell 42-14. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Andrews' victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Pecos, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 3-5.

Everything went Andrews' way against Pecos in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Andrews made off with a 41-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Eagles' Colt Salgado, who rushed for 169 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 211 yards on 14 of 31 attempts. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Mustangs to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
