League recap: Davis extends winning streak with victory over Coalgate

Davis extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 4 this week by beating Coalgate, 49-12. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.

Kingston took down Antlers 44-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Davis' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alec Hetherington threw for 53 and one touchdown and Jordan Wilson had 29 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Nowden chipped in 67 yards. Dylan Prater helped Davis' passing attack out by catching one ball for 24 yards.

The Wildcats' Dakota Powell and Trent Delozier have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Powell has thrown for 529 yards this season, while Delozier has 10 catches for 236 yards. Konawa's Josh Kirkwood leads the league in rushing yards with 1037.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Coalgate takes on the Redskins. At the moment, Jeremy Reeder's team is in third, while Kingston is in fourth.

The Wildcats made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,035 from 9,559. The advance stemmed from a 49-12 victory over Coalgate last week.
