Basketball Recap: Hitchcock Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Hitchcock came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Center Roughriders by a score of 59-51. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Roughriders are ranked 934th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Roughriders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Journee Smith, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 15 points and five assists. That's the most assists Smith has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Edneeuna Barnes, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 13 points.

Hitchcock pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Center, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Hitchcock wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-50 defeat against Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries on the 14th. Center will take on Crockett in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on December 20th.
