Baseball Recap: Farmington Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Farmington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Notre Dame on Friday. The Knights put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-4 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Farmington let Chase Owens and Colby Larkins run wild. Owens scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Larkins scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Larkins a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jackson McDowell, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Farmington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win (which was Farmington's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5-1.

Looking ahead, Farmington will head out to take on New Athens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Notre Dame, they are taking a road trip to face off against Carterville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
