Basketball Recap: Lily Mccreary's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklin over Catholic Memorial

Franklin lost against Catholic Memorial back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Franklin Sabers fell 58-46 to the Catholic Memorial Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Sabers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Crusaders are ranked 27th).

Franklin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lily McCreary, who posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Lemke, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Franklin and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Catholic Memorial, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-38 defeat against Brookfield East on the 3rd. As for Catholic Memorial, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Muskego at 5:30 p.m. on January 7th.
