Football Game Preview: Odessa Ducks vs. St. Mark's Spartans

The Odessa Ducks will head out on the road to square off against the St. Mark's Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Odessa is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Polytech, posting a 49-12 victory. The Ducks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

A big part of Odessa's victory came down to the chemistry between Cooper Curran and his top target Zakie Williams. Curran threw for 323 yards and five TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes while Williams picked up 163 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 163 receiving yards gave Williams a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jayden Cheaton, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Odessa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Deshawn Jackson and Xavier Terrell. Another thorn in Polytech's side was Johnny Waylee, who picked up 4.5 sacks and made nine total tackles.

Meanwhile, while St. Mark's put up some points on Friday, the same can't be said for Milford. The Spartans blew past the Buccaneers 30-0. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Odessa's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for St. Mark's, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
