Basketball Recap: Capitan Comes Up Short

Capitan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 55-34 to the Magdalena Steers. The Tigers were probably out for revenge after losing 38-23 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jorianne Mirabal was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and ten boards for Magdalena. Mirabal's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Jema Ganadonegro was another key player, putting up 13 points and five steals.

Capitan's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Magdalena, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Capitan Tigers face off against the Jal Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Magdalena, they will head out on the road to take on Animas at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
