Basketball Recap: Hillside Takes a Loss

Hillside lost against Chapel Hill back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hillside Hornets were beaten by the Chapel Hill Tigers 61-31. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Tigers are ranked 57th).

When it comes to explaining why Hillside lost, don't look at Mckenzy Green. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Green has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Trotman, who posted four points and five rebounds.

Chapel Hill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Beale, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Beale a new career-high. Scarlett Gilner was another key player, putting up nine points along with six boards and five assists.

Hillside's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Chapel Hill, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Hillside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-23 defeat against Jordan on the 14th. As for Chapel Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 61-19 victory against East Chapel Hill on the 14th.
