Basketball Recap: Victoria West Takes a Loss

Victoria West saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost 60-35 to the Pflugerville Connally Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 799th, while the Cougars are ranked 221st).

Leading Pflugerville Connally to victory were Anthony Phagans and Michael Scruggs. Phagans posted 18 points, while Scruggs had 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Doe, who earned eight points.

Victoria West's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Pflugerville Connally, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Victoria West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 52-50 defeat against Edna on the 30th. As for Pflugerville Connally, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-35 victory against Brenham on the 28th.
