Baseball Recap: Sitka Triumphs

Sitka gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Soldotna Stars 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since May 10, 2024.

Levi Hodges tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Sitka's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Josh Gluth, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Sitka's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for Soldotna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-3-1.

Sitka does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Soldotna, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Service at 3:30 p.m. on the 23rd.
