Preview: Cumberland Gap Panthers vs. Cherokee Chiefs
The Cumberland Gap Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Cherokee Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Cumberland Gap's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Last Thursday, Cumberland Gap earned a 58-50 victory over Grainger.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 53-12, which was the final score in Cherokee's tilt against Grainger on Tuesday. Cherokee was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-8.
Cumberland Gap is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Cherokee, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-20.
Everything came up roses for Cumberland Gap against Cherokee in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 52-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cumberland Gap since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
