Baseball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Camarillo Scorpions

The Fillmore Flashes will head out on the road to challenge the Camarillo Scorpions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Fillmore is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Thousand Oaks hit Fillmore with a five-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Flashes fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 7-6.

Ivan Contreras was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fillmore saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Avila, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Johan Reyes was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Camarillo got themselves on the board against Pacifica on Thursday, but Pacifica never followed suit. They had just enough and edged out the Tritons 1-0.

Blaise Meylemans made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Camarillo is 4-2 when Meylemans allows two or fewer hits, but 3-11 otherwise. Meylemans was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other pitching news, Braden Huber tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched.

Camarillo's record now sits at 7-13. As for Fillmore, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
