Volleyball Recap: Blacksburg Falls to Greer in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Blacksburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greer Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 15 in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-16.

Bandi Schmelter paced Blacksburg's offense, picking up two kills. Schmelter got some help from Andie Ammons and her three assists. A'Bria Mosser controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Greer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adison Howard led the charge by getting seven digs and five aces. That's the most digs Howard has posted since back in October of 2024.

Coincidentally, Blacksburg and Greer will both be playing Union County the next time they take the court. The Yellow Jackets will host the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
