Basketball Recap: Edwards Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Edwards waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 61-42 victory over the Central Cougars. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 39th in Mississippi, while the Cougars are ranked 173rd in Arkansas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edwards is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Edwards will take on North Side in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Edwards knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully North Side likes a good challenge. As for Central, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Dumas at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
