Football Recap: Union County Takes a Loss

Union County extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were beaten by the Union City Indians 63-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 50-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Dylan Wooley threw for 115 yards and one TD. Aidan Vauthier was his top target, picking up 44 receiving yards.

Union City's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

Union City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but D'Shaun Ware led the charge by picking up 84 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 46 yards and one touchdown. Ware got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 65 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Gavin Elmore, who rushed for 112 yards and one TD on only six carries.

Union County has already played their next matchup, a 64-0 loss against Centerville on the 3rd. As for Union City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 92-6 win against Cambridge City Lincoln on the 3rd.
