Baseball Preview: Wasatch Wasps vs. Logan Grizzlies
The Wasatch Wasps will face off against the Logan Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wasatch will be strutting in after a win while Logan will be coming in after a loss.
On Friday, Wasatch made easy work of Sky View and carried off a 17-3 victory.
Kolden Hafen was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Austin Brown was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and one triple.
Wasatch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sky View only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Logan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 7-3 to Northridge.
Logan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sklyer Jenson, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Josh Jensen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Logan's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Wasatch, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Wasatch was able to grind out a solid victory over Logan when the teams last played back in March of 2021, winning 7-3. Will Wasatch repeat their success, or does Logan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
