The Doral Academy Red Rock Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Basic Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Doral Academy Red Rock made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sierra Vista, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Dragons blew past the Mountain Lions 12-2 on Wednesday. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.

Megan Upp spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gabriella Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Briana Martinez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, while Basic put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Eldorado. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Firehawks. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Aubrey Kilar made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kilar was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Basic got a massive performance out of Peyton Barron, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and four RBI. Those three runs gave Barron a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mia Frias, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI.
Basic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Doral Academy Red Rock's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Basic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Doral Academy Red Rock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Basic struggles in that department as they've averaged .373. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Doral Academy Red Rock couldn't quite finish off Basic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
