Softball Recap: Bradley-Bourbonnais Starts off Right with Win over Marian Catholic

Bradley-Bourbonnais gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Marian Catholic Spartans a 12-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Boilermakers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.

Lydia Hammond was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Suttyn Hop was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tristin Woods, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Bradley-Bourbonnais was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marian Catholic only posted a batting average of .118.

Coming up, Bradley-Bourbonnais will square off against Herscher at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Marian Catholic, they will take on Tinley Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
