Basketball Recap: Johnson Takes a Loss

Johnson extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-4. They took a blow against the Long County Blue Tide, falling 71-44. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Atomsmashers struggled afterwards.

Despite the loss, Johnson still got an impressive performance from Thomas Williams, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahjon Reddick, who earned six points.

As for Long County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Long County to victory were Jy'Son Mallard and Kelvin Hayes Jr.. Mallard went 8-for-13 on his way to 23 points, while Hayes Jr. almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Mallard is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jamere Martin, who put up ten points and three steals.

Johnson has already played their next game, a 65-42 defeat against Richmond Hill on the 6th. As for Long County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-54 victory against Tattnall County on the 6th.
