Basketball Game Preview: Price Knights vs. Shalhevet Firehawks

Price and Shalhevet are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2021, but not for long. The Price Knights will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Shalhevet Firehawks at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Saturday, everything went Price's way against King/Drew as Price made off with a 64-39 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 679th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Price's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ace Simon, who posted 16 points and five boards, and Keshrey Smith, Jr, who earned eight points and 12 assists. Simon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Tyrell Miller was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Shalhevet had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 55-46 win over the Wildcats.

Price pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Shalhevet, their win bumped their record up to 16-11.

Price came out on top in a nail-biter against Shalhevet when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 53-50. Will Price repeat their success, or does Shalhevet have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
