Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Warriors vs. Burbank Titans

Johnson is 0-10 against Burbank since January of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Johnson Warriors will be playing at home against the Burbank Titans at 7:00 p.m.

Johnson is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against West Campus, falling 73-48. Johnson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-20.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Burbank against Armijo on Wednesday as the team secured a 71-27 victory. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Johnson better focus on containing Cedric Sydnor and DJ Massey as the pair were huge in Burbank's win. Sydnor dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Massey went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points along with six boards and six steals. Sydnor is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Johnnie Williams was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Burbank smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Burbank is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Johnson, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Johnson took a serious blow against Burbank when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 72-38. Thankfully for Johnson, Paris Clay (who went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time.
