Del Valle is 8-2 against Akins since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cardinals will take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Del Valle and five for Akins.

Del Valle is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Westlake on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Cardinals had to suffer through a 71-7 loss at the hands of the Chaparrals. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-0.

Del Valle might have lost, but man, First Green was a machine: he rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Green really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Akins' offense. They were beaten by Lake Travis 48-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Cavaliers are ranked fifth).

Del Valle's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Akins, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Del Valle against Akins in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 46-15 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
