Football Game Preview: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Johnston Panthers + How To Watch

The East Greenwich Avengers will head out on the road to challenge the Johnston Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, East Greenwich strolled past Pilgrim with points to spare, taking the game 26-7.

East Greenwich's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mark Bradshaw, who threw for 149 yards and four TDs on only 13 passes, and Spencer Padula, who rushed for 145 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Bradshaw's passing game has become a key predictor of the Avengers' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Owen Lehne was in the mix as well, providing East Greenwich with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Johnston faced Lincoln in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Panthers walked away with a 36-28 victory over the Lions. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Johnston's win came from a few key players East Greenwich will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Yadier Grullon, who picked up 137 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 85 yards. Ethan Archambeault was another key passer, throwing for 178 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes.

Johnston's record is now 5-1. As for East Greenwich, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Things could have been worse for East Greenwich, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 26-7 loss to Johnston when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Avengers, Dean Paris (who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 45 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
