Recap: Bellevue West Thunderbirds vs. Papillion-LaVista South Titans
The Bellevue West Thunderbirds had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past Papillion-LaVista South 49-28. The result was nothing new for Bellevue West, who have now won three matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Cj Gauff had a dynamite game for Bellevue West, rushing for 186 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Gauff was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Mcmorris, who picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Papillion-LaVista South's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Derek Jones, who rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Royceon Skogerboe, who picked up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Bellevue West's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Papillion-LaVista South, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellevue West will take on Papillion-LaVista at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Both teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they will head out on the road to face off against Elkhorn South on Friday. One thing working in Elkhorn South's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six contests.
