The Milpitas Trojans will face off against the Homestead Mustangs at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Milpitas came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Los Gatos, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since September 29th.
Milpitas was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Los Gatos work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 27-25, 25-20.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Varadha Biju, who had nine assists and three aces.
Meanwhile, Homestead had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with a 3-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Homestead never let Los Gatos on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-12, 27-25, 25-21.
Milpitas better focus on containing Selina Wang and Natalie Chen as the pair were huge in Homestead's win. Wang had five digs and three aces, while Chen had 19 digs and eight assists. That's the most aces Wang has posted over her last six matches.
Homestead's win bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Milpitas, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.
