Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chapin, Spring Valley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They skirted past the Lugoff-Elgin Demons 4-3. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jayden Williams was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Spring Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 3-12 when he doesn't).

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. Jackson has become a key player for Spring Valley: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-13 otherwise.

Spring Valley's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Lugoff-Elgin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-13.

Spring Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Demons: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
