Basketball Recap: Landon Mcgregor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Newton Falls over Labrae

Newton Falls has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the LaBrae Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 45-35 back in January.

Newton Falls' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon McGregor, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Phil Davis was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Newton Falls' loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for LaBrae, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5.

Looking ahead, Newton Falls will welcome East Palestine at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. Newton Falls is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season. As for LaBrae, they are taking a road trip to take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
