Hagerstown is 1-9 against Shenandoah since August of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tigers will square off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Shenandoah will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Hagerstown extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Tigers claimed a resounding 76-12 win over Cambridge City Lincoln. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 63-6.
Hagerstown found their leader in freshman Lincoln Small, who rushed for 92 yards and four TDs on only five carries. Ty Lieberman helped out on the ground, rushing for 81 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Hagerstown proved: they limited Cambridge City Lincoln to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. While five picked up at least three total tackles, Jaxon Hale stood above the rest. He rushed for 91 yards and a pair of scores. Hagerstown didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 12.2.
Hagerstown didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Graham Vinson, Nick Tinkle, Lieberman, and Ben Hokey picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Shenandoah got the win against Park Tudor on Friday by a conclusive 41-21. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Hagerstown better keep an eye on Cash Cowley. He was instrumental in Shenandoah's win, rushing for 223 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also picking up 32 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Those 223 rushing yards gave Cowley a new career-high. Jarrett Helman was another key player, throwing for 203 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes.
Shenandoah now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hagerstown, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Vinson and Helman. Vinson just won't slow down this season and has thrown 10 touchdowns (and and only 1 picks) while averaging 172.6 passing yards per game. Helman has been a dominant force too and has thrown 10 touchdowns while averaging 175.2 passing yards per game.
Hagerstown came up short against Shenandoah in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, falling 8-2. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
