Basketball Recap: Bakersfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ridgeview last Thursday, Bakersfield came back down to earth. The Bakersfield Drillers fell just short of the Independence Falcons by a score of 53-50 on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Drillers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Falcons are ranked 519th).

Despite the loss, Bakersfield still got an impressive performance from Kade Johnson, who went 6 for 9 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshawn Black, who posted seven points and five boards.

Bakersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Independence, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12.

As of now, neither Bakersfield nor Independence have any future games scheduled.
