Baseball Recap: Leuzinger Comes Up Short

If Leuzinger was feeling good fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Lawndale on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Olympians fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. Olympians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Cardinals since Thursday.

Kyren McNeil put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Daniel Martin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Moises Fonseca was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Leuzinger's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Lawndale, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Looking ahead, Leuzinger will challenge Serra at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lawndale, they will square off against Inglewood at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
