Volleyball Recap: Jaslyn Figueroa and Ariana Blanco Secure Win for Southwest

Southwest had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Southridge on Thursday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Spartans. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 22nd (when they won 3-0).

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-11, 25-12.

Southwest was led to victory by Ariana Blanco and Jaslyn Figueroa. Blanco had seven aces and three digs, while Figueroa had five digs and four aces. What's more, Blanco racked up seven assists, the most she's had since back in September.

Southwest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. As for Southridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Southwest and Southridge are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Eagles will square off against Ferguson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest is facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Southridge, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Homestead at 7:00 p.m.
