Football Game Preview: Clark Chargers vs. Canyon Springs Pioneers

The Clark Chargers will head out to face off against the Canyon Springs Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Clark will be strutting in after a victory while Canyon Springs will be coming in after a loss.

Clark took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 33-6 win over Desert Pines. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Chargers just coasted through the last quarter.

Clark's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taedyn Parks led the charge by throwing for 112 yards and four touchdowns. Annika Griffith was Parks' top target, picking up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Clark didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gulisa Nunez and Griffith. Griffith also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because Clark is 4-2 when she posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 1-11 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Canyon Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 47-6 loss at the hands of Desert Oasis.

Clark moved to 5-13 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Canyon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Clark strolled past Canyon Springs in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 29-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clark since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
