Football Recap: Forney Jackrabbits vs. Waxahachie Indians
On Friday, the Forney Jackrabbits didn't have quite enough to beat the Waxahachie Indians and fell 37-34. The Jackrabbits have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Forney still got an impressive performance from Javian Osborne, who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Forney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waxahachie only rushed for 90.
Even if they lost, Forney's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Kelvion Riggins was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up twohimself.
A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Jerry Meyer Iii and his top target Kohen Brown. Meyer Iii threw for 422 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.8 yards per attempt while Brown picked up 229 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Brown's longest reception was for an incredible 93 yards. Wade Lemons helped Meyer Iii out on the ground, picking up 46 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 58 yards.
Forney now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Waxahachie, their win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1.
Forney will face off against Boswell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Forney knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 point or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Boswell likes a good challenge. As for Waxahachie, they will square off against Duncanville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 914 yards in their previous games.
