Basketball Game Preview: Edinburg/South Fork Ponies vs. North Greene Spartans

The Edinburg/South Fork Ponies will head out on the road to face off against the North Greene Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Greene took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Edinburg/South Fork, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Edinburg/South Fork didn't have too much trouble with Shelbyville as they won 55-41. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ponies.

Meanwhile, North Greene ended up a good deal behind West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on Thursday and lost 60-41. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 591st, while the Cougars are ranked 279th).

North Greene has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Edinburg/South Fork, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Edinburg/South Fork took their victory against North Greene in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 50-24. Does Edinburg/South Fork have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Greene turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
