The Four Corners Coyotes will head out to square off against the McKeel Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Four Corners is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Four Corners gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Ridge Community. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Coyotes.
Cameron Morgan was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Morgan was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mateo Torres, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Favor Maithe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for McKeel Academy's offense. They came up short against Santa Fe Catholic on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Wildcats were not able to get on the board.
McKeel Academy also got a good showing from Tristan Blomeley, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Blomeley didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
McKeel Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. Four Corners' record is now 8-3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Four Corners has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like McKeel Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
