Softball Recap: Bendle Takes a Loss

Bendle dropped to 5-4 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against Caro, falling 22-2. Having soared to a lofty 25 runs in the game before, Bendle couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Caro, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-19. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Caro's part, Brooklyn Osborn was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Osborn has posted over her last seven games. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braylon Gutierrez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 contests. Another player making a difference was Sophia Waltz, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

While Bendle had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
